:: SR-22: pROOF OF FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ::
Contact your insurance agent or broker to get a California Insurance Proof Certificate (SR-22). An SR-22 may cover only the vehicles registered in your name, only vehicles you do not own, or all vehicles whether you own them or not. The DMV will accept this certificate as proof of financial responsibility, but will not accept a copy of your policy or the application.
If your insurance agent cannot obtain this coverage, ask to apply for coverage through the California Assigned Risk Plan at California Automobile Assigned Risk Plan, P.O. Box 7917 , San Francisco , CA 94120 .
